Saw this old Checker parked near me at the grocery store today. It makes for an interesting daily driver now. I wonder if anyone ever tries to wave him down?

That is really neat. Considering how many of them used to roam the streets it’s a bit sad that we don’t see them more often.
Nostalgic.

An exceedingly boring one. This is a ‘68-’74. Could have a Chevy 250 I6 2bbl, Chevy 307 2bbl, or 350 4bbl coupled to a 3 speed slushbox . And it weighs around 38 00-4000lbs. It takes longer from 0-60 than a Hellcat does for the quarter mile.
Kinda surprised I haven’t seen him around. I’ve always kept an eye out for Checkers, especially after mine was basically stolen.

This would be a hilarious ride sharing vehicle (although I’m not sure any of them allow you to use a car this old).

They were a tank. Once in a while one local owner would come to me for engine parts when I worked at a Chevy shop.

That’s the understatement of the year. Mine was a ‘64 Aerobus 6 door (and the rarest example of one ever found living or scrapped .) It was in active livery use until 1992 .
